A conversion of the rules for playing Dragon Kings in to Exalted: Second Edition. Mostly pure mechanics, noting only the differences required for 2nd Ed; possession of the 1st Ed. Player’s Guide is required. If something is not noted, it remains as presented in that book. This article features Breeds and the 10 original Elemental Paths. I figured that since the 2nd. Edition Lore5 is working again, I should move this Article over here.

Exalted 2d Edition: The Dragon Kings
“A hatchling, that is what you are. A hatchling struggling into the world. I may be younger than you in years, but I am ancient in my thoughts. Do not worry about these things. Find peace in where and what you are. People often know what must be done. All you need to do is show them the way- that is wisdom.” - from EragonHumanity tells tales of glorious cities, now ruined, and of great and glorious heroes Exalted by the gods of the sky, and the incredible things they accomplished in a long-vanished golden age. This era of wonder and magic is called the First Age.
This name, however, is misleading. The First Age was the age following the Primordial War, and that event was not the beginning. Creation truly began when it was created by the primordials; birthed to life within the Wyld, a world of spirits, who thought and lived forever, of beasts, who did not think, and who died, and the wilderness.
To form the link between the gods and the world which they maintained, the primordials created the four breeds of Dragon King to inhabit each of the four corners of Creation. Created for a dangerous world that still quaked in the throes of its birth, the Dragon Kings possessed magical power and physical strength in combination. Their civilization rose from the wilderness of Creation, and flourished.
Eventually, the Primordials created humanity, and from their ranks, the gods raised up the Exalted to fight the creators of the world. The Dragon Kings fought in the service of the Unconquered Sun, and the vast majority of their race were irrevocably lost. Humanity, who had once been ruled by the Dragon Kings, were now given charge of Creation, and as the First Age developed, the Dragon Kings dwindled. Withdrawing from the time of the Usurpation, devastated by the Contagion, the Dragon Kings who remain now are either savage, mindless predators, or beset with few allies by dangers on all sides. Soon, the time of the Dragon Kings may end completely, leaving only humanity to walk in the sun and feel all the sensations of mind, body and spirit.
But that time is not yet come. In distant corners of Creation, ancient Dragon Kings of the First Age sleep yet in magical stasis, ready to awaken and rebuild their race. In the deep wilderness, small groups of Dragon Kings, only recently awakened by chance to civilized thought, cluster in small makeshift settlements, fighting for survival among their savage fellows with but their minds and magic in their favour. In Yu-Shan, Dragon Kings walk small between the gods, living off the kindness and fond memories of the spirits, yet still with powers that no human possesses.
The race of the Dragon Kings teeters on the brink, but little is certain in the Age of Sorrows. Few though they are, those who walked the earth before humanity may not be ready to rest just yet.

Pterok on the ground cannot Sprint or Dash, and their running speed is (Dexterity-1) yards per tick.

This power adds a number of dice equal to the Dragon King’s level in this Path to any Archery or thrown attacks and half that to their Dodge DV. This Path also allows a Dragon King a Dodge DV of half their Path level against Unexpected Attacks, but only once, until the user’s next Action or the duration ends.

This power only works with Martial Arts and Melee attacks. It does not work with any form of ranged weapon.

While active, the user of this power can reflexively cause a fire to lash at someone nearby once per action, no flurry or Power use involved.

Anyone who does not dodge this attack suffers 6L damage and thereafter suffers damage as if in a bonfire.

Fire produced by this Charm deals Essence + Willpower lethal damage per action and has a Trauma equal to the Dragon King’s permanent Willpower.
The Path of Flickering Fire

The Power can adds the character’s Path Level to her Join Battle rolls in addition to its other effects.
•• Fiery Prowess
Keywords: Obvious, Combo-OK.
The character’s score in this Path is added to all his player’s Melee or Martial Arts attack rolls, and half of that number to his Parry DV, for one action.

Basic Extra Action power, as described in Exalted 2nd Edition, page 182.

This Power doubles the Dragon King’s speed in all ways. The Speed of all Actions, except sorcery, she takes are halved for the duration, rounding down to a minimum of Speed 1. Actions may be flurried as normal. This power is incompatible with all other Extra Action effects unless the character forfeits their halved Speed for that Action.

Keywords: None
While active, the character ignores all DV bonuses from shields, cover or similar effects. They are not subject to a reduction in DV caused by Co-ordinated Attacks.
