Fangpaws

Level 1 Artifact

Whereas khatars are simply daggers attached to a hilt that extends from the knuckles, fangpaws appear as short swords with blades anywhere between 18 inches to two feet in length with a width up to a foot, and constructed entirely from one of the five magical materials. These artifact punching daggers also incorporate an elaborate guard that extends from the hilt to cover the handle and protect the hand, allowing the user to parry lethal attacks without the use of a stunt or a Charm and due to the weight added to by the guard and the extra length and width of the blade over a mundane khatar, fangpaws can penetrate armor far more easily.

Fangpaws cost 3 motes to attune and have a setting for a single hearthstone, usually residing within the hand guard. Fangpaws also come in pairs, which has an artifact cost of 2. A matched pair incurs no offhand penalty.

Author’s Notes: One thing I was dissapointed with was that WW never introduced any artifact versions of the khatar when they released SotM, so I understand why these may seem boring and unoriginal, but they had to be done for my own satisfaction. After some tinkering, I have modified the stats slightly so the damage isn’t as high as it was (+6L down to +4L) but added the Piercing tag.

I'm giving these a pure average rating, because it is an artifact version of a weapon that WW should have made stats for, but haven't, and nothing else.

I am going to give it the originality point, because it is literally original-- WW forgot it, and you went out of your way to do it. The descriptor block more then makes up for the lack of illustration these weapons would have gotten if WW had done them. Nice work again.
