To one whose heart is open to the suffering of others, the path of the sword is paved with grief. When Thrice-Radiant Misho stood against the primordials and they wielded their incredible will to shape the world itself against him, he took all the sorrow they had given him and channeled it into his blade, that he could return it to them. And as mortal sorrow was as alien to them as they were to humanity, they could neither comprehend nor resist such sadness, and their mighty powers faltered.
When this Charm is activated, the user’s weapon is suffused in the shimmering essence of regret; if the user’s anima is active, it changes to reflect this powerful emotion. An attack supplemented in such a manner, should it get through the target’s soak, inflicts the user’s sorrows upon the target and saps their determination; roll a number of dice equal to (user’s Compassion + target’s Compassion). Every success on this roll drains one point of temporary willpower from the target.
Creatures of Darkness such as demons, nephwracks or the Fair Folk have either lost or never had true understanding of human grief, and as such have no resistance to it. They double the amount of willpower they lose to this attack. Formerly mortal creatures such as Abyssal or Infernal Exalted, or recently dead ghosts, do not suffer this enhanced effect until they surpass Essence 4.
