Note: This Charm has a special prerequisite of Temperance or Valor 4.
The Children of Twilight possess an instinctual grasp of Essence flow that allows them to momentarily concentrate their anima, hardening it in order to protect themselves when no other defense may be possible. With additional power and skill, the Descending Suns can expand their protective essence field, forcing it away from their body in order to reject the material concerns which surround them.
For 7 motes of Essence, or just 2 if at the 11-15 motes level of display already, the character momentarily projects a sphere of glowing essence to a distance of (Essence) yards away from their body. Any unsecured object or creature in that area is moved to the edge, and is hurled an additional (Essence x 2) yards unless they succeed at a Stamina + Resistance roll with a difficulty equal to half the Solar’s Essence. Objects or structures which have become part of the area’s essence flows (i.e. things like walls, furniture and so forth which have not been introduced or moved for at least a week) are not affected by the shockwave.
This power can also be used defensively; in such a case, it functions exactly like the normal anima power, but doubles the Solar’s effective Essence rating before calculating its effect. It also covers a larger area, and so could conceivably be used to protect others. In truly dire straits, the Solar can also prolong the field’s expanded effect by spending 2 motes every tick.
If a creature attempts to remain within the bounds of the sphere when it activates, they must roll Strength + Athletics (if holding something to anchor themselves) or Strength + Martial Arts (if trying to grapple the Solar) against a difficulty equal to twice the Solar’s Essence. If there is some form of bond holding them, such as a rope or manacles, apply twice the Solar’s Essence Rating as if it were the number of successes rolled on a check to break it.
