As any staff fighter can tell you, staves can be used as powerful levers, and anyone who understands the principles can make use of leverage barehanded. Sometimes a little force applied just right can have crippling results. Upon making a successful attack that inflicts at least one level of damage, the martial artist may choose to sacrifice inflicting any damage in order to instead inflict an Amputation effect on a limb of his choice. The limb is not actually amputated, of course, simply wrenched out of its socket via a clever twist of the staff or precisely-aimed strike. The crippling effect lasts until the limb is set (Dexterity+Medicine, difficulty 2. People attempting to relocate their own limbs suffer a -2 penalty to the roll. In combat, this is a (Speed 5, -2DV) action.)
