But war would not leave her alone,
The martial artist’s hand flares a deep red, as if stained with blood, as they lash out at their foe. This Charm supplements an unarmed attack. If the attack hits and overcomes the target’s soak, this Charm adds (Essence) successes to the damage roll, and the martial artist may maim his victim, inflicting an amputation disability. Against enemies with an Essence equal to or greater than the martial artist’s own, this merely crushes bones or maims nerves, inflicting the disability without actually severing a limb. Such victims can heal the crippling with a full day of rest or over the course of two weeks of activity. Against an enemy whose Essence is lower than his own, the martial artist can freely amputate limbs, pulling off arms or legs as if they were clay.
Regardless of whether the victim is amputated or merely crippled, they begin bleeding out, losing copious quantities of blood (even if the original attack dealt only bludgeoning damage). They suffer one unsoakable level of lethal damage every (Stamina) actions, rather than every (Stamina) minutes. The Exalted can attempt to staunch their bleeding as normal, but the difficulty to do so is (Martial Arts + Essence). If they receive treatment from a character with Medicine, the bleeding does not stop automatically, but the difficulty to stop it is only (Martial Arts). Mortals, on the other hand, cannot have their bleeding stopped by any means other than Charms or spells.
