And knew she stood above her grave.
So great is the mercy taught by the Carmine Pyre that its masters will not let themselves die before they have brought the peace of Oblivion to all Creation. Until then, they selflessly forsake the rest of the grave. Whenever the martial artist would die, filling their last Dying health level with damage, they may reflexively spend a point of Willpower roll their Martial Arts. On a success, they do not actually die, but instead enter a quiescent state. They appear to be dead, and any ongoing charms they have end, causing the committed motes to be lost. Any damage to the character while they are in this quiescent state causes them to truly die. However, 5 ticks later, the Exalt arises, healing all Dying health levels and their Incapacitated health level.
Some martial artists with this Charm undergo a metamorphosis that mimics reincarnation whenever they regenerate in this way, their physical appearance, height, and weight changing–sometimes, even their physical gender and personality have changed. Whether or not a character undergoes this transformation is decided by their player. A martial artist with this Charm may choose not to use it when he dies. Against death by old age, this Charm does nothing.
