Elsewhere is everywhere, and touches everything in some way. The learned Solar can make use of this, sending her consciousness into Elsewhere until she senses what she needs and grabs it. The process of finding what is sought can take many hours and requires a meditative trance in which the character can perform no other task.
Please note: This Charm, and two others in this tree, are based on a set 3 Charms submitted to the old EC by Peter Schaefer.
This Charm requires an extended roll of the Solar’s Essence, one roll every hour, up to a number of hours equal to half of the character’s Essence (round down). The full cost of the Charm must be paid for each roll. One success is required for any common, everyday object such as a sword or a loaf of bread. Three successes can summon something that is harder to find, such as a golden circlet or an amulet of jade. Five successes are required for truly rare finds, amounts of workable orichalcum and a number of lower-power artifacts. Seven (or more) successes are required for specific/unique items, and those that are so truly rare they might not be found.
This Charm cannot conjure objects that the Solar cannot hold as they appear, nor can it take parts of things, nor can it affect animate creatures. If the object being summoned is in the active possession or attunement of a being that can manipulate Essence, add their Essence rating to the difficulty of the attempt.
Objects retrieved with this technique vanish from their source with a bright flash of golden Essence. Due to the non-Euclidean nature of Elsewhere, these objects are just as likely to arrive from across Creation as from nearby, and their exact origin is essentially random. Most mortals on the receiving end of this Charm attribute it to local spirits and move on. Spirits, the Exalted, and other magical beings may have the means to track the stolen object—or its thief.
