In the moment when an archer lets loose his arrow against a distant target, or a sorcerer channels Essence into a powerful spell of destruction, there is a connection of fate drawn between the attacker and his target. The master warriors of the Solar Exalted may sense this strand of Essence and use it to their advantage in combat, shaping Essence into a powerful counter-stroke.
This Charm allows the Solar to treat a ranged attack against him as being either hand-to-hand or ranged, whichever is more advantageous to him. He may strike across a battlefield at a distant archer or protect himself against a whistling arrow with the same proficiency as he would a rival swordsman’s blade. The specific benefits this Charm provides are:
- The Solar may use Melee Charms with the Counterattack keyword (such as Ready in Eight Directions Stance) to make counterattacks against ranged attackers regardless of their distance.
- The Solar may use the better of his shield’s hand-to-hand or ranged bonus against attacks.
- The Solar may treat any other special attacks as hand-to-hand or ranged, whichever is more favorable to him.
The Solar may not make ranged attacks with Melee except via Counterattack Charms, even if the Solar and his attacker act on the same tick.
The range limit of this Charm’s effectiveness is the Solar’s Essence x 8 yards.
