When the guardian gets caught off guard his body reacts to save its essence, like a strong manse sheilding a demense. This reaction toughens the fighter’s body and prepares it for a beating. This increase in soak turns out to be a lasting affect which allows the specialist to concentrate on retaliation. This new soak last for as many turns as the permanent essence score of the caster.
