The master of chaos is beyond the strictures of creation, and may bend the rules as she sees fit. The martial artist a (Wits+Martial Arts)roll at difficulty 3. If she succeeds, the martial artist may step briefly outside the flow of time, though this act inflicts an unsoakable level of lethal damage. Everyone else appears frozen. The martial artist may remain outside of time for a number of ticks equal to the successes she got on the activation roll, for a maximum of (essence)ticks. The character may act in any way she chooses during these ticks. Opponents have an effective DV of 0 against attacks made while the charm is in effect, though the immobile nature of clothes, flesh and armour in this state increases their lethal and bashing soaks by 3. After the ticks are used, the martial artist is forced back into time, and is temporarily dazed and disoriented. To everyone else the character appears to have simply teleported in a corona of burning essence to their new location, with wounds exploding across their enemies in between.
This charm is undeniably powerful, touching upon the Blossom of the Perfected Lotus. However, there are several downsides to using the charm. The long recovery time is one, as is the high essence cost. Stepping out of time also cuts you off from essence flows, meaning a character cannot spend essence on actions while outside of time. Similarly, the character cannot spend willpower, as her force of will alone is holding her outside of time. Another effect of this is that anyone who uses the charm rolls 3 paradox dice, even if they are not Sidereal Exalted, as they flare up on the Loom of Fate whilst knotting all nearby threads with an effect usually only caused by massive essence expenditure. This means most users of the charm are unaware of the potentially dire consequences, but some practitioners of the style have come to understand that the charm has extremely dangerous side effects.
