Default Trait: Martial Arts
A marriage of two differing philosophies of combat, the Transcendent Heaven Pillar Style is the brainchild of two Dragon-Blooded martial artists. Shattered Jade Flower was an earth-aspect Outcaste from the Summer Mountains, and Teresu Ogama a disgraced (by his own choice, admittedly) member of one of the ruling Gens of Lookshy. The two met in an underground pit-fighting tournament on the Blessed Isle being run by House Cynis, and the two saw in their opposing styles and philosophies a possibility for union. Ogama fought offensively and adaptively, relying on athletics and overwhelming force, where Jade relied on strong grounding and defense to wear her opponents out. The two saw they were approaching the central tenet of balance from opposing angles, and decided to merge their two philosophies into one fighting style. They took the staff (Ogama’s preferred weapon) as the central focus of the style, thanks to its ability to be used both as a primarily defensive or offensive weapon. Each began developing separate charms in their preferred styles of combat, joining them in a form charm, creating a unified style from there.
Transcendent Heaven Pillar Style is a Terrestrial Martial Art. Though new and unfinished, it already has two distinct schools. Teresu Ogama’s school of learning focuses on agility and disrupting the balance of one’s foes. Practitioners of this school of the style treat Transcendent Heaven Pillar Style as a Water-aspected martial art. Shattered Jade Flower’s school focuses more on solid defences and powerful strikes. Practitioners of this school of the style treat Transcendent Heaven Pillar style as an Earth-aspected martial art. Dragon-Blooded who learn this style are limited to one school, and may not learn the charms of the other school. Celestial practitioners are not bound to any such limitation.
Weapons and Armour: The staff is the primary weapon of this style, but it also works with some polearms and spears as well as Dire Lances, Wrackstaves, Daikalbars and Vajras (when wielded as a hand-to-hand weapon). Teresu Ogama’s school typically eschews armour (though Silken Armour is something of a trademark for practitioners of this school) while Shattered Jade Flower’s school typically encourages light armour. That said, any practitioner of the style can wear light armour while practicing it.
Prerequisites: Teresu Ogama’s school teaches an athletic, acrobatic style of combat. Practitioners of this school must have Athletics 3 and Dodge 2 to learn the style. Shattered Jade Flower’s style is less agile and more solid. Practitioners must have Resistance 3 and Integrity 2 to learn the style.
