Though it is indeed a worthy errand to ascertain the true state of the world, the truth can be harsh and unforgiving. One who would seek it out must strengthen their heart and their mind against the terrible impact which the truth can inflict.
With this power, a Dragon King can magically reinforce their capacity to accept unpleasant information. When activated reflexively in response to learning something, the information has no emotional impact on them, except for a mild sense of satisfaction at learning it. The precise mechanical effects vary; typically it reduces dice pools or obliviates the need for Virtue tests.
Example: Rassik the Watcher is an ancient Dragon King warrior who is proficient with the Path of Truth’s Fearsome Hunter. He has been awakened from hibernation by a Circle of Solar Exalts and has been placed in charge of a section of their army. He marches on a mortal nation that is secretly aided by a Sidereal of the Bronze Faction. The Sidereal sends a missive to him, using his Charms to place a social attack into the message, outlining the mortal nation’s vast army and the hopelessness of any attempts against its power, describing its numbers and strengths in an attempt to persuade Rassik to take the army elsewhere. The Storyteller rules that the Sidereal gains a stunt bonus for detailed description, and that Rassik must additionally make a Valor roll in response to it. Rassik’s player, however, reflexively activates Proficient Handling of Reality. Rassik therefore does not need to make any Valor roll, and the Sidereal loses his stunt bonus to his social attack.
