Circle: Terrestrial Circle Sorcery
Cost: 25m
Target: One structure
Duration: One full day, or until released

While fortresses can be useful for protection against one’s enemies, they lack the virtue of portability. For those who are beset whilst far from home, Instantaneous Redoubt can make even a ramshackle hut into a place of convenient safety.

This spell seals all external doors, windows, and gates in a single continuous structure. As the spell is cast, all such portals slam shut, and may not be opened by any means, magical or mundane, until the spell expires.

While it is possible to destroy the barriers or the surrounding walls, doing so might prove difficult, as the magic of the spell also lends the entire structure a bonus of twice the caster’s Permanent Essence to it’s bashing and lethal soak.

For purposes of scope, “a single continuous structure” can be as small as a single room, or as large as a palace, as chosen by the sorcerer at casting time.

While this spell was originally intended to provide a fast, improvised sanctuary against attack from without, it could just as easily be used to create a prison for those within.

The caster may release this spell at any time before the duration expires, and may also renew the duration instantly by re-paying the full cost in motes of Essence.

It'd be nice to see some exceptions to the door-sealing, e.g. "the doors may not be opened except by those already inside". Spells in Exalted are remarkably intelligent things compared to their D&D counterparts.

An interesting and useful spell, without likely being overpowered for a Terrestrial spell. My only possible concern is with it being used to enhance an entire fortress...but then, that's why enemy armies bring their own sorcerors.

Love it. Lots of interesting uses during sieges come to mind...
